ABOUT ME...

I’m Lewis Walkinshaw

If you’re here, it probably means you’re tired of where you’re at and you are now ready to take control of your fitness, mindset, and well-being.
Before we get into how I can help, here are five things I truly believe:

  1. People change when they’re ready. My role is to guide and support you through that change.
  2. The mind is your greatest tool. It can either empower you or hold you back—mastering it changes everything.
  3. Fitness and nutrition should be fun and sustainable. Life’s too short to stress over every detail.
  4. Old injuries and mental health challenges don’t define you. With the right approach, they can be overcome.
  5. Exercise should never feel like punishment. Extreme diets and restrictions lead to frustration, not lasting results.

If that resonates with you, we’ll get along great.

A Bit About Me

I grew up in Farnborough, moved to Ashford in Kent at 10, and settled in Portsmouth in 2022. I’ve always been a bit of a jack-of-all-trades—playing football, boxing, drumming, DJing—you name it. I love trying new things and pushing myself to see what I’m capable of.

I even spent a few years in the Royal Navy, working hard to become an Officer and later training as an Aircraft Controller. Although I didn’t achieve those goals, every challenge taught me something valuable.

When I moved to Portsmouth everything changed—new city, started a business as a Personal Trainer and started living with my partner at the time. Without the support network I’d had back home, I battled perfectionism, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and a deep sense of frustration starting my business. 2024 tested me even more with a breakup, financial strain, and nearly losing my gym space. But through it all, I learned to manage my mindset, journal through challenges, and rebuild from the inside out. I wasn’t lost—I just needed to reconnect with who I really was.

My Fitness Journey

From captaining my school and district football teams to becoming a Kent Champion in boxing and competing in athletics and cross country, sport has always been a core part of my life. I thrived in both endurance and sprint events—from 800m to 100m relays. But as I focused on building my Personal Training business, my own fitness took a back seat. In 2025, I made a commitment to push my limits again—physically and mentally—by taking on a new challenge: Hyrox. I’m now training to compete in the Men’s Pro Singles category, with a goal of reaching 90kg to optimise my strength and endurance for peak performance.

How I Help My Clients

My experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the mental and physical battles we all face. I help my clients channel their challenges into growth and lasting change.

Just like:

  • Clare, Vicky, and Hildah, who lost between 6–10 stone without calorie tracking.
  • Teigan, Josh, and Liv, who broke free from anxiety and self-limiting beliefs to discover what they’re truly capable of.
  • Jane, Karen, and Edward, who found sustainable ways to enjoy food and life without restrictive dieting, who are all losing weight and getting stronger daily.

No matter where you are in your journey, we’ll work together to create real alignment in your body and mind.

VICKY

“I’m Vicky and I’m a full time primary school teacher. Although I had been losing weight successfully for a year, my exercise routine was not consistent in any way and I really didn’t have a clue about what I should (and should not) be doing. I lacked energy and motivation and didn’t really enjoy exercise at all. I knew that I needed something else alongside losing the weight, but didn’t know how to go about that.

I am at my target weight having lost a total of 8 stone, and I am now learning how to maintain that. I am also in the gym 6 days a week. I’m either training with Lewis or, now I know what I’m doing, doing it alone as well. Exercise and good nutrition are key in helping me to have a fulfilling life. I have so much more energy and I can now join in with anything and anyone! I’ll give anything a go now and this has opened a whole new world! The fact that I actually want to exercise daily is a new and exciting thing for me!

Me and Lewis have such a laugh in our workouts! He makes it fun and not a chore…mostly. Lewis takes me exactly as I am and he doesn’t try to make me be someone I’m not. He’s pushed and challenged me and doesn’t take no for an answer…no matter how hard I try! Plus, he loves gossip too.

Couldn’t ask for more! Lewis is always at the end of the phone to answer my questions, encourage me, console me and pick me up when I’m down. He puts up with me moaning about what I don’t want to do in our workouts, even though we both know that I’m going to do it anyway! I’m a people pleaser!

So what do you actually have to lose having a Personal Trainer? If you are not yet self-motivated or able to go it alone, reach out for the help that will get you to the place where you can feel comfortable not only in the gym but also in your own skin. Having someone who is consistently on your side and wanting the best for you is invaluable. I wouldn’t be in the place I am, physically and mentally, without Lewis”.

CLARE

“My name is Clare, I’m 39 and I work as a Content Manager for a recipe app. After the last few years of injuries, surgery and lockdown, my life became very sedentary. I didn’t go to the gym anymore, I ate very badly, I suffered with general aches and pains and struggled to just move. I was very down, my weight piled on and I couldn’t see a way out of it on my own.

Being more active was my main goal. I wanted to enjoy working out again, feel stronger and have more energy. I then wanted to focus on weight loss, once I got my head around the basics and built up a good foundation of exercises and food. I had so much anxiety around not losing weight on the scales, that I wanted to focus on other achievements than just a number. I had a bad relationship with food and the changes I was being asked to do just felt impossible at first. After some simple planning, lots of guidance and support, I have shifted so many bad habits. Relying on snacks, grazing throughout the day instead of regular meals, reaching for chocolate when I was sad, frustrated, upset, has all changed. I am now able to say “I don’t want this” rather than “I can’t have this” and then crave it desperately. But I am losing weight, my clothes are feeling looser, so I know all my good habits are working.

The general aches and pains have gone. My lower back would regularly flare up, even without me doing anything excessive. Just walking or standing up would trigger it and I’d be in agony for days. My back has been pain-free since working with Lewis. Even simple things like walking up the stairs was hard work. I would have to drag myself up and be out of breath. This was on a daily basis as I work on the 1st floor of my building. The strength I have in my legs, stepping up, I can feel more support pushing me rather than me lifting myself up. My mood and energy has increased so much, I feel so much happier in myself, which I have really struggled with in the past.

What is telling you NOT to sign up with a Personal Trainer? I knew I couldn’t do it alone, I needed that push, that support, someone other than me to be accountable to, that voice that says “you can” when mine says “I can’t”. You’ll never know if a PT can help you unless you try.

The thing I have noticed with BeMindset is that you are treated as an individual, everything is tailored to you. It’s never felt like a cookie-cutter programme where all the clients are doing the same thing but with different goals. Everything is tracked, adjusted and progressing. Lewis is very open-minded, let me introduce boxing into my workouts, which I had such a passion for in the past. He is there to get the best out of you, whether you think you can do it or not.”
